MERCFA currently has 400 active members from Kerwa, Nderi, Kikuyu, Thigio, Karai-Ndeiya and Muguga villages adjacent to Muguga forest. Members include Men, Women, Youth, Persons living with disabilities (PLWDs), and learning institutions (Schools) with over 6,000 students.
MERCFA collaborates with other stakeholders namely the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI), Kenya Forest Service (KFS), Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO), County Government of Kiambu (CGoK) among others.
MERCFA is a member of Kiambu County Alliance of Community Forest Association (KCACFA), National Alliance of Community Forest Association (NACOFA), Kenya Forest Working Group (KFWG) and Kenya Wildlife Conservation Forum (KWCF), Nature Kenya, Commonwealth Forestry Association among others.
